Horse Riding and Pony Trekking - horse riding brecon beacons

Pony trekking

A quiet ride on a quiet pony or horse. You will ride at your own comfort level, but there is a chance to branch off and trot or canter in appropriate places.

Hacking

For small groups of more experienced riders who want to move faster, with more opportunities to canter. Hacking is for people who ride regularly and are confident on a horse.

Horse-riders are allowed to use the many bridleways that traverse the Park. These are marked with blue arrow waymark signs. See Rights of Way waymark codes.

Riding establishments

There are over 15 trekking and riding centres to choose from, catering for trail riding and trekking holidays as well as full-day or half-day rides. Experienced and knowledgable guides can take you through varied terrain from steep rugged slopes to gentle, wooded valleys, crossing cool mountain streams on the way. You can even learn how to drive with a horse & carriage!

You can have confidence that centres approved by the British Horse Society will provide sound instruction and that their horses and facilities are properly looked after.

For details of riding centres and stables get a copy of the Brecon Beacons National Park Welcome.
